I got my first dog for my 21st birthday in 2002 in New Zealand, a black Labrador Retriever, Chasers Halelujah. Jack turned out to be an amazing dog and a stunning example of the breed but unfortunately I was unable to include him in my breeding program. He had an exceptionally high drive to work so I made the very tough decision to let him go an pursue a career of his own. He went to Taiwan to work as a detection dog at the airport and loved his job. Jack was the inspiration for me to begin breeding and exhibiting Labrador Retrievers. I think of him often.

I have a passion for breeding animals and genetic improvement. In NZ I bred and exhibited Siamese cats and have also bred American Quarter horses, cattle, sheep, dairy goats, miniature pigs (in NZ), many rare breeds of poulty and tropical fish! I currently work full time as an artificial insemination lab manager, collecting, processing, analysing and allocating semen for an animal breeding company.

In 2003 I got my first Labrador bitch, Chasers Jolie Fleur, who we sadly lost in August 2016 just a week after her 13th birthday! Fleur was a stunning bitch but never enjoyed the show ring, even going as far as to fake a limp to avoid having to go in the ring but be miraculously cured by the time we got to the river on the way home! My second Labrador bitch Dharma, NZ CH Roughfield Caramello Spicza (IMP NZ), we just lost in March 2018 at almonst 14 years old.

The prefix RIVERLEA was first registered in NZ in 2004 and I bred three Labrador litters in NZ before emmigrating to Australia in 2008 with five dogs, four Labradors and a Smooth Fox Terrier, Pirfic Sugar Baby (IMP NZ). My NZ prefix was unable to be registered in Australia so I now have the prefix RIVERLANDS. I have successfully bred, exhibited and titled Labrador Retrievers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and Flat coated Retrivers but was forced to downsize to Smooth Fox Terriers and Jack Russell Terriers due to personal circumstances a couple of years ago but had Labradors join the family again in 2016 with a bitch puppy from a dog I bred and exported to NZ a few years ago. I have bred and titled several Smooth Fox Terriers and Jack Russell Terriers and have imported several dogs from USA, Europe and New Zealand. I am very excited about our future in Jack Russell Terriers who hold a special place in my heart. We have two more imports from Eurpoe joining the fmaily in 2018. Watch this space!

We are dedicated to the improvement of the breeds we are involved with and DNA profile and X-Ray all breeding stock.

I now live in the beautiful Riverina, NSW with my husband, Dr Rolf Sokolinski, who trained in Germany as a vet and is now the technical manager for an animal breeding company specialising in genetic improvement.
